Rolling waves cascade down the canvas as the storm rages on, and at the heart lies the goddess Calypso as she guides sailors safely to shore. This painting represents my love of mythology, the ocean, and large flowing abstract movement. It was easy to get lost into this world, as I painted each wave and each splash of seafoam. I love the contrast of the dark clouds and flashes of lightning against the bright blues and teals. The copper metallics shown in Calypso’s jewelry as well as the boards of the ship compliment the blue and green hues perfectly and overall it is a scene I will forever cherish.
Mind of An Artist
2018 Gallery Piece
While painting “Mind of an Artist”, the only goal I had was to simply express. Express my emotions and what the inside of my mind and soul felt like. Express the beauty in color and light with dark contrasting strokes that compliment the bright ones. I feel that artists see the world in a unique way, which is full of color and life. I let myself get lost in the abstract brush strokes throughout the entire canvas, in what felt almost like a dance. This piece will forever mean so much to me as it invoked a new sense of confidence and creativity within me. One of the best feelings of the human experience is to tap into your inspiration and to just let go, to create with reckless abandon and not look back. Here lies one of my first full expressions of that feeling.
